A Little History About Us

In 1953 Michael E Camp opened Camp Rocky Mountain Cut Stone to provide flagstone and moss rock to the local building contractors.  As the business grew, more and more products were added such as river rock, pea gravel, sands and top soil.  The first few years all the rock had to be loaded and unloaded my hand.  For landscaping, product was put in burlap bags so customers could take it with them in their own cars.  Equipment was only acquired when it could be purchased with cash.  This is the same philosophy that Mr. Camp’s grandson, Mike Lockwood, has today, as he still runs this family business.  Mike remembers loading and unloading trucks by hand.  He was very happy when Grandpa purchased a front end loader and a dump truck.  Mike has added lot of new equipment today such as cutters, saws, scales, fork lifts, and a radial arm polisher.  Mike is looking into adding a tumbler in the near future.

 Not only has equipment been added but the yard continues to grow with more and more products.  As new stones and rocks are introduced to the Colorado market from all over the United States, Mike continues to grow the business making these products available to his customers.  Insuring availability of product has always been an important part of this business’s success.  Just take a look at the product page to see a complete listing of all the material available.  If you still do not see what you are looking for, call and we'll locate the material you desire.  

Even though the name changed in 1997, the location and the way of doing business never have changed.  Mike still preaches customer service to all of his employees even though most have been with him for over 10 years.  The company motto is for every customer that comes on the yard, make sure that customer leaves with exactly what they came for, and make sure they are happy with what they got. 

 Quality of product is also very important.  Camp Stone will make every effort to meet all of the contractors’ and customers’ demands on the quality of the appearance, and that all cuts are exact.  Other providers may deliver product that is warped, bowed or cut to the nearest ½ inch, but Camp Stone will only deliver product that has a natural cliff top, and cut to the exact measurement.  We go the extra mile to deliver a better product than our competition.

 We never claim to be the biggest provider of natural stone and landscaping supplies in the Denver metro area.  We do try to provide a better product, the best availability, and usually our prices are the best.
